If your friend already runs a business, chances are that they won’t be doing a lot of reading. They did a ton of that already before they started their business.

Now that they are already running a business, they are already dealing with a lot of daily pressure & challenges. So reading technical, long-winded books only serves to frustrate and waste their time. Entrepreneurs read very selectively, and their attention is only limited to things that are relevant to the success of their business. And info that is relevant is usually short, sweet or entertaining.

If you insist on getting a book, however, get a book that tells an interesting story or a book with thoughtful illustrations. These are relaxing and trigger the playful, imaginative side of the mind, and not the conservative, analytical side. They are also very easy on the mood, and will help your entrepreneur friend forget the problems of running a business for a little while.

So please do Not get a book that takes itself too seriously. It will most likely sit on the shelf and collect dust for years to come.
